manhattan

for piano

1989   5'   pub: Composer

I composed this music whilst walking along the streets of Manhattan. Around me a multitude of sounds, colours and distractions of all sorts were taking my attention and I suddenly felt impelled to express such sensations in music right on the spot. I wrote the score sitting on a bench in a park near Fifth Avenue.

First performed by John Palmer at Trinity College of Music, London, 22nd November 1990.
